1. About StoryTail

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of StoryTail, operated by StoryTail (ABN 44 142 063 217) (“we”, “us”, “our”). By creating an account or using our service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use StoryTail.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and purchase stories. By registering, you confirm that you are 18 or older. StoryTail is a service for adults — it is not intended for use by children directly.

You may use StoryTail to create stories featuring a child by providing their name and other details. You are responsible for ensuring you have appropriate consent to use any third party's personal details in story generation.

3. The Service

StoryTail uses artificial intelligence to generate personalised audio stories for children based on information you provide. Stories are delivered as MP3 audio files and are compatible with Yoto Make Your Own cards and other audio devices.

We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Story generation typically takes 30–60 seconds. Occasionally, technical issues may prevent a story from being generated, in which case your credit will be automatically returned to your account.

AI-generated content may occasionally be imperfect. We apply automated safety filtering to all stories before delivery, but we cannot guarantee that every story will meet your exact expectations.

4. Accounts and Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at support@storytail.com.au if you suspect unauthorised access.

You may not share your account with others or use another person's account without permission.

5. Pricing and Credits

StoryTail operates on a credit system. Credits are consumed when a story is successfully generated. Our current plans are:

• Free Trial: 1 story credit included on account creation at no charge
• Single Story: $4.99 AUD for 5 story credits (one-time purchase)
• Explorer Plan: $12.99 AUD per month for 10 story credits, reset monthly
• Family Plan: $19.99 AUD per month for 20 story credits, reset monthly
• Story Top-up: $0.99 AUD per additional story on any paid plan

Monthly subscription credits reset on your billing date and do not roll over to the next month. Unused credits expire at the end of each billing period.

All prices are in Australian Dollars (AUD) and include GST where applicable. We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days notice to subscribers.

6. No Refund Policy

All purchases are final. We do not offer refunds on used story credits, partially used subscription periods, or one-time purchases.

Exception — failed generation: If a story fails to generate due to a technical fault on our end, your credit will be automatically returned to your account. If this does not occur, contact us at support@storytail.com.au and we will manually restore it within 2 business days.

Under the Australian Consumer Law, you may have rights that cannot be excluded. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth).

7. Subscriptions and Cancellation

Monthly subscriptions renew automatically on your billing date unless cancelled. You may cancel your subscription at any time through the My Subscription page or by contacting us.

Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You will retain access to your plan features and remaining credits until that date.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, with or without notice depending on the severity of the breach.

8. Intellectual Property and Story Ownership

Stories generated by StoryTail are created for your personal, non-commercial use. You may download, share, and play your stories freely within your family.

You may not resell, redistribute commercially, or claim authorship of AI-generated stories. The underlying AI technology, platform, and brand remain the property of StoryTail.

By providing story details (child name, adventure type, etc.) you grant us a limited licence to use that information solely for the purpose of generating your requested story.

9. Acceptable Use

You must not use StoryTail to:

• Attempt to generate content that is harmful, offensive, or inappropriate for children
• Provide false information or impersonate another person
• Attempt to circumvent our safety filters or AI guardrails
• Use automated tools to generate stories in bulk
• Resell or commercially exploit generated stories
• Use the service for any unlawful purpose

Violation of these rules may result in immediate account termination without refund.

10. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

StoryTail uses artificial intelligence to generate story text, audio narration, and cover artwork. While we apply strict content guardrails and safety filtering, AI systems are not perfect. We recommend parents listen to stories before sharing them with children.

Generated stories are fictional and for entertainment purposes only. Any resemblance to real events, places, or people is coincidental.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Australian law, StoryTail's total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 3 months prior to the claim.

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of data or business interruption, except where such liability cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.

12. Privacy

Your use of StoryTail is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify active subscribers by email at least 14 days before material changes take effect. Continued use of StoryTail after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance.
